- AYYYY BRUINS, man I love our fourth line to pieces. Those guys are just incredible. The game was kind of sloppy but a win’s a win. Also the bounce before our second goal was the weirdest puck bounce I have ever seen. And there were so many high sticks that I lost count; I hope the guys from both teams are all right.

- I think my cat is more terrified of lightning than I am.

- I’ve actually started icing my tendons, that’s how bad they’re getting. I have never iced anything in my life until last week.

- Okay that picture of Chris Cornell that I just posted is one of my favorites ever, holy shit. The most beautiful man I’ve ever seen. He’s beautiful in so many ways. I am a lucky woman to have musicians like him in my life.

So I had a game today and apparently some little shit on the other team made a racist comment about one of my players. And goddamn is she lucky I didn’t hear it. And that the girl about whom she was making the comment didn’t hear it, because we would have ripped her in two pieces. There is probably nothing in this world that gets me more heated than racism. I swear to god, I fucking see red.

People try to disguise it now. There’s this undercurrent of tension, because people don’t want to be seen as racist so they mask their racism under fucking cowardice. People say racist shit quietly, they say it behind your back, or they don’t say it at all but they treat you differently. And for some reason, that makes it worse. Sometimes I forget that my skin is different than everyone else’s because I’m lucky to be in a situation where people are generally pretty tolerant. But every now and then, someone reminds me where I stand in this piece of shit world.

Honestly I don’t even identify with my white heritage. I identify with my colored blood, because a long time ago I figured out that to white people, I am just colored. I’m not a part of their world, and frankly I don’t fucking want to be. I would never trade in this skin for a lighter shade. I get looked at sideways, I get treated differently, and then I get to listen to these pathetic white kids complaining about affirmative action. I’ve got people telling me all the time that I should “leave my hair curly”. Why? So you can fucking ogle over it and pull it and marvel in my “blackness”? People like me get paid less, we get pulled over for no fucking reason, we have to listen to your fucking comments, we’re constantly painted in a negative light, we’re constantly put in our “places” and reminded that we don’t look like you, but then we have to listen to you tell us to stop being so sensitive and over-reacting. You know what, fuck you. I want to snap your fucking necks. Cry me a goddamn river about how minorities get “preferential treatment” and how minorities have it better off than your white ass, please. But let me know when someone references your race during a soccer game. Being white must be so hard.

And I’m sure some white kid will get offended by this post. I know that every white person isn’t a piece of shit. I know that. Don’t be fucking dense. But every now and then someone says something and I step back and realize just who I am in this society. And I think about the things I hear and the things I see and I get really fucking pissed, because all that negative shit I shove down bubbles to the surface. It’s so fucking annoying to be society’s punching bag all the fucking time, whether it’s because of my race or because of my sex. Just fuck off.

I probably would have grabbed her fucking jersey and screamed in her face. Give her a red card or give one to me.

Thoughts for the day:

- Busywork is so obnoxious and I have so much of it to do. It seems like schools always find new ways to force students into doing ridiculous shit that doesn’t serve a purpose.

- I cleaned up so much dog shit tonight, wow.

- There’s a lot of stuff coming up in the future that I don’t want to deal with.

- Soundgarden played Mailman at the show and the lyrics in that song cut me deep because I relate to them so fucking much. I was looking into Chris’ eyes while he was singing and I got really sad. He must have been feeling like such shit to write those words, and I love him and it’s sad to realize that a person I love so dearly has felt so low. Obviously it’s something I’ve always known, but I guess it just kind of sunk in. We always find ways to relate lyrics to our own lives, but sometimes it’s easy to forget just how much the person who wrote those lyrics must have suffered. We make it about us when it’s a piece of them. It is an amazing gift when a musician shares their lyrics with the world.

- And on that same note…if anyone ever shares anything they’ve created with you, you better fucking appreciate it. Even if you don’t like it. If someone shares a poem, or a drawing, or a song that they’ve created, you are being given a gift and you need to remember that there is a human being behind that work. Anyone who creates for the sake of expression is sticking their neck out into a world of blades and even if you think their work is the shittiest thing you’ve ever seen/heard, you need to appreciate the humanity of it. It’s hard to be that exposed, and we need not make it harder.
